Wrong Turn

Rated NR

In director Rob Schmidt’s gratuitous slice-and-dice ’em gore fest, mutant mountain men armed with bows and arrows, rifles and their insanity attack an unsuspecting crew of 20-somethings with supermodel good looks and Britney Spears’ keen fashion sense. Three girls and two guys, each sporting a winning smile, decide to bond with nature in the forests of West Virginia, but get a flat tire moments before Mr. GQ’s car crashes into theirs. Despite these automotive setbacks, the male-to-female ratio is now balanced so they can go hand-in-manicured-hand looking for the nearest Starbucks safe haven. A trio of barbaric serial killers—with hunchbacks, animal groans and a house that Jeffrey Dahmer would kill for—rain on their frappucino parade. Even with its handful of screenwriters, intense soundtrack and an eye-candy cast, this superficial slasher flick clearly took a wrong turn very early in its cinematic journey and couldn’t get back on course. Don’t take a wrong turn by screening this film.
