Gluten is vegan. Maybe you meant gelatin.

Personally, I find I eat a larger variety of foods now that I'm vegan -- I have been vegan for four years and I certainly don't subsist on oatmeal, grapes and soy milk. I even eat Chinese food at restaurants sometimes.

If you (the writer or anyone else trying to be vegan) find your options are so severely limited and dwindling, you must either hate a lot of foods or you didn't look. Do a little homework. Visit a grocery store. There is more to veganism than fruit and processed soy. I see no mention in this article of the vast selection of beans (besides soy), grains, leafy greens, orange or yellow vegetables, roots and tubers, seeds or nuts. I'm not too concerned if this one person is no longer serving as a representative of the unhealthy, deprived vegan, but dang, lady, if the aforementioned foods aren't even part of your diet as an *omnivore*, you're not eating a balanced, healthy diet.
