Re: “What Kind of Ride Is McCain Giving McClung?

Thanks for covering. Too bad the mainstream Arizona McMedia won't touch this.

Re: “McClung and McCain: Office Mates

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/27/h…

EXCLUSIVE: MCCAIN FLAGRANTLY BREAKING HIS OWN LAW - When Democrats complained that John McCain's Senate campaign was illegally spending its money to back Raul Grijalva's opponent Ruth McClung, McCain whipped out docs showing he had filed with the FEC to make the independent expenditure. But that means he can't coordinate with the McClung campaign. HuffPost Hill snagged an email from the McClung camp to activists urging them to come into the McClung headquarters to do phone banking. The contact they give is a McCain staffer, Mike Sistak. It'd be difficult to define coordination any more clearly than that. Andrew Herman, a top election law attorney, calls the flagrant coordination "absurd" and "ridiculous." "It's certainly not within the letter and spirit of the law that bears the name of Mr. McCain," he said. Why does McCain hate Grijalva so much, beyond the obvious? Paging Howard Zinn: It's copper and uranium. "It's those two issues, the uranium industry up in the Grand Canyon and Resolution Copper," says Grijalva, who has blocked mining for both materials, digging that McCain wants to get going. "McClung doesn't have a campaign infrastructure," says Grijalva. "But McCain does have an infrastructure. And so their presence in these last remaining days will essentially be the McCain campaign." (McClung's camp says they're paying for half the costs of the office and that the staffer was listed as a matter of convenience to activists.)

Re: “McClung and McCain: Office Mates

It seems obvious McCain blatantly violated his own campaign reform laws by sponsoring the McClung/kelly ads. Why is there no local coverage of this? Has he got AZ media cowed?

Re: “Grijalva vs. McClung Debate Baggery Continues

Americans for Tax Reform is the group that is spending $230K on a misleading Television ad attacking Grijalva. Maybe Stone could email us and let us know if Ruth McClung knew the C3 arm of this outfit, run by Grover Norquist, old buddy of Jack Abramoff, is accused, by the 2006 Senate Finance Committee of "perpetrating a fraud" on taxpayers?

Re: “Yes, Ruth McClung Did Back Out of Oct. 18 Debate

Yep - guess I am just old fashioned - like thinking corruption in politics can ruin democracy. Speaking of which, in the last week, corruption has hit District 7 like a sledge hammer.

Last week Grover Norquist’s American’s for Tax Reform starting airing $230K worth of “hit” ads spreading misinformation about Congressman Raul Grijalva.

District 7 Citizens need to know the connections between Grover Norquist’s, his C3 arm of American’s for Tax Reform and Jack Abramoff. A 2006 Senate Finance Committee report concluded Americans for Tax Reform “appear to have perpetrated a fraud” on taxpayers.

This was well covered by the Washington Post in 2006 by By James V. Grimaldi

Re: “Yes, Ruth McClung Did Back Out of Oct. 18 Debate

Hey Anti-Progressive Communist.

Stop swilling the Kool-Aid put out by the Republican National Broadcasting System over at FOX.

Wake up and smell the intellegence... and read the following for starters. (It's bulleted for short attention spans.)

• While many of the people in this district have lost their jobs and are worrying about how they are going to provide for their families, McClung is focused on re-instituting the same failed policies that got us into this economic mess in the first place.

• McClung has no answers for resolving the economic crisis. Grijalva, by contrast, has championed a new green energy economy that can bring new jobs and wealth to Arizona.

• McClung has stated that she is supportive of the bank bailout (TARP) and that she is also opposed to the recently passed financial reform bill. These two facts show her allegiance to Wall Street, not Arizona families.

• She has indicated that she would support privatizing Social Security and has even said that Social Security is “not an entitlement.

• Grijalva has fought tirelessly to improve education, reform our broken healthcare system, and protect our vital lands and natural resources which make Southern Arizona beautiful.

• Congressman Grijalva has been an outstanding advocate for this district and he continues to be the best person to represent us in Washington.

Ronnie G.

Very curious as to documentation you find about McClung's "pledges and positions..." Please post when in hand.
