Cirque Roots' "The Conscience of Love"

Cirque Roots' one night only performance of "The Conscience of Love" at the Tucson Museum of Art uses fire, movement, circus and sound to explore love, the universe's most powerful and mysterious form of energy. The power of love is integrated with the elements of fire, circus and sound in 12 acts of this theatrical performance. Seventeen artists express acts of love through ritualistic fire dances, belly dancing and acrobats in a 45-minute collaborative performance with a custom electronic score by the DJ duo, Joshua Pocalips and Seraphim Kristos, known as Unianimity. The voice of your conscience leads you through the experience of interpreting love, which resonates inside all of us, said Zoë Anderson, co-owner of Cirque Roots and fire performer. "(In) each scene, we are trying to convey a certain feeling of love; some of it is more dark, some of it is more bright, some of it is more sexy, but each act has different individuals highlighting their talents." The tribal vibes of Unianimity's originally-produced music complements the choreographed acts including a fire-sword fight, a fire fan dance, fire acrobatics, a fire-hoop team performance and a Goddess dance performed by seven women wielding palm torches. Other acts include stilt acrobatics, one of which an eight-piece group forms a creature illustrating unity. Enjoy the dark-carnival vibe of the performances on a heated patio underneath the full moon along with an intimate crowd of less than 250. Doors open 15 minutes before each performance.
