The LEGO Movie

The surprise is probably ruined by now, but part of the fun of The Lego Movie is how unexpectedly brilliant and hilarious it is. Of course, now that you’ve heard that, can it live up to those expectations? Most movies can’t, but this one is so funny – with jokes and dialogue you’ll never see coming – it’s going to be hard to brace for everything. The story takes us inside the world of Lego, where builders like Emmet (voiced by Chris Pratt) follow the instructions to make perfect little Legoscapes. But President Business (Will Ferrell) is plotting to glue all the pieces in place permanently, effectively outlawing fun and imagination. The rest of the characters are a hodge-podge of officially licensed Lego products, from superheroes to NBA stars, and somehow or other, this bizarre little comedy is just about perfect.

The LEGO Movie is not showing in any theaters in the area.
