Jessica Alba and some decent visual directing almost salvage this horror remake. Alba plays Sydney, blind from the age of 5 after a firecracker accident. She is the recipient of some transplanted eyes, and she starts seeing bizarre things: Ghostly, shadowy creatures lead hospital patients away; creepy kids hang out in her apartment-complex hallway and jump out of windows. Is the film scary? Yes and no. The shadowy figures that hang around the dead are nastyI wouldnt want to see one in a dark alley. Some of the ghost sequences are eerie, too. The problem is, there arent enough of these moments to make the film scary as a whole. Albas character spends too much time yelling at her doctors or pleading with sister to believe her. Overall, its a near-miss.
