Thanks and Stuff

It's that time of year again, when the columnists are talking about what they're thankful for, when we have an early deadline for a paper that actually hits the streets on Wednesday (because Thursday wouldn't work out so well), when I am paying obscene amounts of dough for a plane ticket to see the family in Reno.

Yep, it's Thanksgiving time.

And most of us have a lot to be thankful for. For one thing, we're thankful not to be Raoul Bozo, who claims he was completely screwed over by Pima Community College, after they gave the young man from Cameroon a scholarship to come and play hoops for the school. Another thing we can be thankful for: the new emphasis at PCC on local athletes, so we won't have the freakin' community college recruiting kids from other continents anymore.

We can also be thankful that we don't work for two troubled organizations, UApresents or the Pima County Attorney's Office. For entirely different reasons, both are in hot water right now, with the word "mismanagement" being bantered about in both cases. Read about UApresents in the Currents section, and the county attorney in The Skinny.

It's also appropriate to give thanks for the cornucopia of theater, dance, art, film and music coming to town. Heck, fans of Tears for Fears have a big reason to express gratitude; they're back together, and you can read all about it in Music.

Finally, all of us around the Weekly are thankful for all of you who read our work each and every week. Have a happy Thanksgiving.
