The standard training montages and the grand-finale competition cliché all arrive on cue. Nonetheless, this flick by director/choreographer Anne Fletcher intensifies and entices with every fast-paced hip-hop wiggle and break-dancing move. Channing Tatum co-stars as a hopeless street thug who gets sentenced to 200 hours of community service at the Maryland School of the Arts after trashing its set designs late one night. While serving his time, the muscular delinquent meets a cute upper-class dancing student (Jenna Dewan) whose partner is nursing a sprained ankle. You can complete the rest the predictable plot. However, a sweet little surprise is found in the motivational capacity of Tatums character, who encourages everyone to reach his/her full potential. The greatest treat of all is the outstanding energy and charisma of the two leads as they step and groove across the big screen.
