Stand Against Racism

This national call for action will be at the forefront of our minds on Friday, April 24, as Tucson and other YWCA locations unite over 300,000 activists to take a stand. Though there are several ways to get involved, including signing an online pledge against racism, the brown bag lunch events are the most visible. Community members can attend a lunch from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Frances McClelland Community Center, 525 N. Bonita Ave., and eat in solidarity with fellow supporters. Or, if they want to host their own brown bag lunch rally in their neighborhood or at their workplace, they can sign up to receive instructions on how to plan the meet-up. All options are free, though attendees must bring their own lunch or sign up for a $7 brown bag lunch, of which $1 is donated to the YWCA Tucson effort Campaign for Racial Justice. The YWCA asks that you register for the community brown bag lunch, as well. Check out the event's Facebook page for more info.
