Shakespeare Behind Bars
A strangely moving documentary about a group of prisoners who put on plays by Shakespeare. Each has a horrifying backstory, and each somehow finds resonance with their own lives in the parts they play in Tempest. The amount of access granted to the filmmakers is astonishing, and the picture of life inside the prison is as far removed from anything you see in Oz or Prison Break as, well, reality is from fiction.
