A quick announcement: will.i.am does voice work in this movie. Yes he does, and it’s as bad as you would expect from that guy from that terrible band that sings that awful song about having a good night tonight. This movie looks like somebody spilled a tropical drink over a Roomba on the fritz. It’s bright, fast and messy. I never saw the first Rio, so I’m not sure how many intricacies I may have missed. Blu (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg) and his girlfriend Jewel (Anne Hathaway) are both macaws. They take their kids and rhumba and samba deep into the jungle, where Jewel’s father (Andy Garcia) is less than impressed by the wussy Blu. From there, it takes a left turn into Meet the Parents territory, and I don’t think the tropical music ever stopped playing. Be careful, everyone.
