With the release of the new album Horrorscope, the band looks to reach a well-deserved wider audience. The first single, "Promise," is a fast-paced joyride through the mind of lead singer Max Collins that is irresistible. Eve 6 (named after an X-Files episode about killer clones) blends pop with rock in a perfectly precise way. The band members have matured beyond the high-school years when they produced their first CD. They are now young adults full of questions about the world ahead of them.
"Here's to The Night" is an ode to the wasted nights of drinking and partying that fill the life of your average young male. The fear of checking into the doctor for a possible STD is explored with humor and grace in "Enemy." Even suicide is treated to a fast-paced comedy that is laugh-out-loud funny in "On the Roof Again."
Though the band is still inexperienced, the innovative XXX Collins is someone to keep an eye on in the future. See for yourself when it performs in town this Wednesday.
Eve 6 will play at Gotham, 4385 W. Ina Road on Wedneseday, May 2 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the all ages show are $13 in advance, $15 at the door, and are available at CD Depot, Zip's University and Sticks N' Strongs.
