Re: “Five Minutes of Gardening Makes a Big Difference - Especially in the Desert

This can be profoundly true. To me, the first task is to choose an aesthetic: what kind of plants make you feel really good when you work with them? In all seasons, try to work partly in the shade (at least have a nearby shady spot to rest in). And in summer, go slow and be sure to drink lots of electrolyted liquid. Doing this kind of work and watching the results as you go is literally a life-saver for ome of us.

Re: “Danehy

Thanks, Tom, for for this informative and sensitive report. Usually all we would get would be a statistic if that. It reminds me that all of us could use some CPR and other "first-responder" medical training, and that encountering a situation like this can happen to anyone at the most unexpected time.

Re: “New Ethiopian Restaurant Opens Downtown

Desta's food, service, and ambiance is excellent, but what strikingly distinguishes it from its sister Ethiopian restaurant in Tucson is the use of Teff as the base of its Injira. Teff is an ancient, Ethiopian-domesticated grass with very small seeds. It contains exceptionally high protein for a grain, and other valuable nutrients as well. It is also very tasty, yet few Americans know about it (to their loss). Anyway, 3 cheers for Desta's, and three cheers for Teff!
