Revenge of the Electric Car

Rated PG-13 90 minutes 2011

A sequel to a documentary is a rare thing, and director Chris Paine doesn’t do as much civic journalism in the follow-up as he did in Who Killed the Electric Car? Perhaps because the electric car didn’t die—and is, in fact, as alive as it ever has been—Paine changed his focus for Revenge of the Electric Car, which follows General Motors, Nissan and Tesla in their race to electric-vehicle supremacy. The problem with the film is that it’s too early to tell who will win that race, and since Paine spent three years working on this film, why didn’t he just keep working on it until his movie had somewhere to go? As a result, there seems to be a lot missing here.
