Rated NR

Sandra Bullock stars as Linda Hanson, a woman who’s come unstuck in time. Living one week out of sequence, she goes to her husband’s funeral, then spends the night with him, then hears about his death, then has a heart-to-heart talk with him, etc. It’s like she’s applied the Iraq war plan to the narrative of her life. Most of this film is a well-played, nicely edited and effectively creepy Hitchcockian thriller. Unfortunately, there’s a clumsily tacked-on ending that’s about redemption and closure. If I wanted to see that, I would have tuned into Lifetime’s My Two Mothers Are Coke Addicts. If director Mennan Yapo and writer Bill Kelly had just trimmed their story so that it concluded when the mystery was solved, they’d have had a nicely made product on their hands. Instead, they added on an additional movie that blunts the force of the first one.
