Neal Conan, former host of NPR's Talk of the Nation, leads a community conversation about Tucson's poverty rates, which remained among the nation's highest last year, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12; free. One in five Tucsonans live below the poverty threshold; in Pima County, the poverty rate among children was 29 percent. A panel of educators, social service professionals and others join Conan to discuss the circumstances in which elderly people, veterans and single mothers work two or more jobs to make ends meet; who is doing what to help; and options for escaping poverty.
