A crew of vandals effectively started the "demolition" process of a home being renovated, starting with a part of the property the homeowner was still using, a PCSD report said.
A neighbor of the victim called deputies to say he'd been walking out to his driveway that night when he saw a truck carrying four teenagers pull up to the house next door and smash the mailbox with a bat. He said the house was vacant because it was being renovated.
When a deputy called the homeowner, she confirmed in dismay that although she wasn't living at the house right now, she was receiving mail there—or had been, anyway.
The vandals weren't found at the time of the report, but hopefully insurance covered the damage so the woman could add a new mailbox to her list of renovations.
