Smoked Out

San Xavier Beat

Aug 10, 10:04 p.m.

A deputy maintained utter calm while arresting a shoplifter who appeared very angry about not being allowed to smoke in custody, according to a PCSD report.

After responding to a Circle K to apprehend a "drunk and combative" male caught stealing sandwiches, the deputy searched him and found a tobacco pouch.

"I then informed (him) he would not be able to take the tobacco into the jail," reported the officer. "I asked him what he wanted me to do with it. He then told me, 'Fuck you.' I then told him I would dispose of it."

After ensuring the man was safely seatbelted in his patrol vehicle, the officer took him to jail.
