Target Practice

Orange Grove and Oracle Roads, Sept. 11, 12:24 a.m.

A woman accused her neighbor of throwing a beer bottle up at her while she was standing on her apartment balcony, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report.

The woman showed a deputy a large red mark on her arm and a broken bottle near the door to her balcony. She said she had partied with some of her neighbors in the past, and they had since accused her of stealing credit cards and money from 38-year-old Kevin Earl Lowell, the man whom she said lobbed the bottle at her.

The woman said her cousin exchanged harsh words with Lowell on the way to his own apartment. Her cousin told authorities he had seen Lowell slamming a door repeatedly and told him to "chill out."

"Fuck off," Lowell allegedly replied.

The woman said that before Lowell threw the bottle at her, he called her and her cousin "beaners." "I know what you're up to; I know what you're doing," Lowell also reportedly told them.

Lowell, who said he had just moved from Kansas, told a deputy that the cousins had stolen his wife's credit card and money, but had no proof. He also was unable to say why he hadn't reported the theft, a deputy noted.

Authorities observed that Lowell appeared to be drunk. At first, Lowell denied having thrown any bottles at his neighbor, saying he was asleep; upon further questioning, however, he admitted to breaking bottles and lying to authorities.

Lowell's fiancée, who said she had been asleep, was called to her apartment door by authorities. She said Lowell had been awake for some time.

Deputies transported Lowell to the Pima County Adult Detention Center, where he was booked on a charge of assault. He told the deputy who was taking him to jail that he had been pressured into admitting fault.

Will Sell For Drugs

Unincorporated Pima County, Sept. 14, 6:14 a.m.

A woman's boyfriend tried to take her son's all-terrain vehicle "to sell for drugs," according to a Pima County Sheriff Department report.

The 38-year-old woman alleged her boyfriend had also taken the "tack for her horses." They had argued, and then he left in a blue Chevrolet pickup truck, she said.

The deputy provided the woman with victim's rights information and told her "that she needed to have her son translate information inside the pamphlet so she could better understand it," the report stated.
