What a Blast

West Cortaro Farms and North Thornydale Roads, Oct. 11, 11:09 a.m.

A woman believed a neighbor phoned her anonymously to inform her that he and his son had "a ball" in her backyard, tampering with a drip system and outdoor lighting, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report said.

The woman said her drip system hadn't been working properly since she returned from out of town. She and a friend thought they'd finally fixed it, but it flooded her yard because some of the connections were broken, she told a deputy.

Soon after that, she reportedly got the phone call, which made her suspect her neighbor was responsible for the watering issues and damage to some lights. The caller didn't specifically state what was so fun about being in her yard.

The woman said her neighbor had taken items from her yard before and played "loud and horrible music" at his home.

A deputy advised the woman to obtain a restraining order.

But it Was Only Paper

UA Area, Oct. 23, 5:40 p.m.

Police arrested a man for throwing a napkin at a football referee, a UA Police Department report said.

Geoffrey Lynn Eaton, 47, lobbed a napkin at a referee who was being escorted to a locker room at the end of the second quarter of a football game.

Eaton resisted when an officer tried to remove him from the stadium, saying it was just a piece of paper. He was handcuffed and taken to a command post for processing.

"I knew I shouldn't have done that, but the refs suck," Eaton reportedly said later.

He was cited for disturbing the peaceful conduct of an educational institution and was then ejected from Arizona Stadium.

Just Wait 'Til sis Gets Home

West Arivaca Road and South Nogales Highway, Oct. 12, 7:39 a.m.

A boy set fire to his sister's plastic purse, causing damage to her bedroom, a PCSD report stated.

The 11-year-old fled the room and didn't tell anyone when he lost control of the blaze. Fortunately, his mother discovered the fire and put it out. It burned an area approximately one square foot in size.

Several items in the purse melted, in addition to a pair of glasses sitting nearby. The boy's 15-year-old sister was at school when the fire occurred.

A deputy arrested the boy on a charge of reckless burning. He was released to his mother.
