A running garden hose, which had been inserted into a book depository chute, flooded a school library, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report stated.
The flooding destroyed most of the carpeting in Valencia Middle School's library, 4400 W. Irvington Road. Firefighters turned off the electricity when it was noted that electrical outlets along the floor were smoking, the report said.
Tucson Unified School District officials estimated the flooding caused at least $11,000 in damage.
Authorities attempted to lift fingerprints from the book depository, without results. There were no suspects or leads at the time of the report.
Sidewalk Sleepers
West Cortaro Farms and North Thornydale Roads, July 26, 4:56 p.m.
An allegedly drunken boy who had passed out on a sidewalk was charged with being a minor in possession of spirituous liquor, a PCSD report said.
Deputies roused the sleeping 14-year-old, who was laying face-down in vomit, and had him perform a breath alcohol test. The test purportedly showed the boy's blood alcohol content to be .231 percent.
A conscious male friend allegedly failed a breath alcohol test, too. The 15-year-old was additionally cited for underage tobacco possession when authorities found a half-pack of cigarettes in his pocket, the report said.
Both boys were transported to Northwest Hospital for treatment.
Caught Jerking
UA Area, Aug. 4, 6:40 p.m.
A female bicyclist said she saw a man masturbating in his convertible as she rode by--nine months before, according to a University of Arizona Police Department.
The woman, who believed the man was following her, claimed to have seen the man about a dozen times since that incident. She described the man as bald, white and around 50 years of age.
A police officer advised the woman to try to get the convertible's license plate number if she saw the man again.
