An Eye For A Beak

East Speedway Boulevard and North Freeman Road, July 4, 6:26 p.m.

A "hysterical" woman claimed that her father threatened to kill her beloved pet birds--which she called her "therapy"--because she somehow "made him" break a BB gun that belonged to her in the first place, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report stated.

Citing the biblical "eye for an eye" proverb, she alleged that one day after smashing her BB gun, her father told her he was going to keep one of her birds outside until it died of exposure, the report said.

The woman said both she and her father were taking medications for depression. She claimed he had been harassing her all weekend and also accused him of stealing her Valium and abusing alcohol.

Authorities pulled the father over after a brief search for his vehicle. The man appeared to be sober and denied taking his daughter's prescription drugs. He admitted to threatening his daughter's birds after he broke her BB gun, however.

The father was arrested and charged with domestic violence/disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

Dude, Where's My Car?

East Ajo Way and South Country Club Road, July 2, 1:29 p.m.

A man alleged that a car he left at a body shop was sent to a salvage yard to be crushed without his permission, according to a PCSD report.

The man said he dropped the 1985 Oldsmobile sedan off at the body shop before leaving town. When he returned, he claimed that he was told the car had been towed to a junkyard for crushing. A call to the junkyard confirmed this, the report stated.

The owner of the body shop told authorities that the man parked the Oldsmobile on his property without permission. He said he repeatedly called the man to pick it up; when the man didn't, he had the vehicle towed.

Unhappy Meal

East Speedway Boulevard and North Campbell Avenue, July 11, 9:54 p.m.

A man exposed himself to a family eating at a fast-food restaurant, a University of Arizona Police Department report said.

A witness told police that the man and a family with a 6-year-old child were eating separately at McDonald's, 1711 E. Speedway Blvd., when the man "flipped out" and started yelling at them, the report said.

The man then took off his clothes and started "playing" with his penis, according to the witness.

The father confronted the man outside the restaurant, causing him to flee. Police combed the area, but couldn't find the suspect.
