Young wordsmiths assemble! Tucson Youth Poetry Slam season kicks off this Saturday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. with a group workshop at 5 p.m. The best Tucson and Southern Arizona youth poets will return to Bentley's House of Coffee & Tea (1730 E. Speedway Blvd.) to give us finger-snapping alternatives to football that happen to pair well with coffee and baked good. The slam is always free, but bring some cash for donations to help keep TYPS alive. There's a suggested donation of $5, but, of course, you can always shell out more dough, ya dig? For more on TYPS and the slam, visit
