Re: “Into the Mild: Journal From a Refugee Camp, Week Two

"Oh and maybe turn off the fox news and hate radio, that stuff can't be good for your cardio-vascular system" and "Perhaps you don't watch fox news or listen to hate radio, but again, the topic and way you express your views could fool any objective observer. You fit right in with that demographic," kind of implies you think Fox News and hate radio are one in the same and that the "demographic" of those who watch Fox is the same as those who listen to hate radio. Now maybe you can show a quote where I said "I can't be a bigot because my best friend is one?"

Re: “Into the Mild: Journal From a Refugee Camp, Week Two

Wow, so anyone who watches Fox News is a hate-filled racist? That's not black and white thinking at all. Good to know though, since I watch Fox News and wasn't aware that I was a racist. It might be because all my neighbors are black and Muslim. Or it might be because Fox News consistently ranks the most watched cable news network in the Nielson polls, so with the majority of viewers watching the same news channel, it's easy to forget we all think alike. I guess all 2.4 million viewers fit neatly into that demographic you describe though. Oh does it help that when I do listen to news radio on my commute, it's NPR and C-SPAN, or that I occasionally flip to CBS and CNN (sorry, I just can't stomach MSNBC no matter how hard I try). I haven't read the Nation since college because some people just have to lay off the conspiracy-theory crack pipe, but do I get points for at least knowing what the Nation is? You might want to check yourself Miss Kali because painting people with a broad brush is ignorant, period. Maybe if YOU watched Fox News occasionally, you would know that the network is not the evil beast that MSNBC would have you believe it is. But here's a stereotype for you--when self-described progressives don't actually have an intelligent argument to make, they will always resort to name-calling and labeling. (Oh by the way--I happen to know the author of this column and I am insanely proud of what he is doing--even though I'm just a stupid hater who watches Fox News!)
