FARMERS' MARKET TO TABLE

Heirloom Farmers' Market, Edible Baja Arizona and Zona 78 are teaming up to bring you RIPE, a farm to table fundraising dinner. It's all going down Sept. 17 and 18 at Zona 78 on River Road from 5 to 10 p.m. RIPE will feature creative dishes from chef Kevin Fink and desserts from pastry chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph paired with local wines and spirits. All the freshly harvested ingredients will be sourced from Tucson area farms selling at Heirloom Farmers' Markets. Tapas-sized dishes will be offered for $10 to $18, with a five-course meal for $60. The event also features a silent auction with a ton of different items to bid on. Net proceeds from the dinner and auction will directly benefit Heirloom Farmers' Markets infrastructure development as well as education and outreach programs. BEER!

Oh man, just typing that word puts a smile on my face. The 3rd Annual Born & Brewed: Tucson's Beer Cup is taking place on Friday, Sept. 19 from 7 to 10 p.m. on the Hotel Congress plaza. Tucson's best brew dudes (and dudettes) throw down their beautiful nectars against one another in order to claim the Tucson Beer Cup for both the best brew and best seasonal brew. Participants will include: Ten Fifty-Five, Sentinel Peak, Thunder Canyon, Borderlands, Barrio Brewing Co., Nimbus, Dragoon, 1702, Pueblo Vida Brewing Company, Four Peaks, Beast Brewing Company and Iron John's. There will be food provided by Cup Café, live music by The Key Ingredients of African Soul, games, prizes and all that jazz, and there will definitely be BEER! BIG CHEESE

Cheesy Rider, the formaggio centered food truck, is going adobe edition by bringing their gourmet grilled cheeses and other sammys to the food court in Foothills Mall. The new store front is slated to open on Monday, Sept. 15. Also, you can catch the cheesy folks on the cooking segment on KVOA this Friday, Sept. 12 during the 4 p.m. newscast.

IT'S GETTING CHILI

Jonathan's Cork, 6320 E. Tanque Verde Road, is hosting their 10th annual Chili Cook Off, Saturday, Sept. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. Ten chefs from Tucson Originals restaurants will be brewing the comfort food in their cauldrons for a chance at chili supremacy. Tickets are $10 at the door (Beano® not included), with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting "Send a Kid to Camp."
