Renee's Organic Oven
When Eclectic Pizza at 7065 E. Tanque Verde Road first opened in 2005, owners Renée and Steve Kreager say, they made a commitment to use as many healthy and organic ingredients as possible. They kept at it, adding more free-range, organic and otherwise healthy items as the years ticked by, and have now taken it to the level where they've renamed the restaurant Renee's Organic Oven. The menu and restaurant may look a little different—both have seen significant overhauls in recent months—but the food is essentially the same. Wild West Wing Fest
Cast your vote for the best wings around at the Wild West Wing Fest at 7 p.m., Friday, June 24. We've heard that BZ's Pizza Company, Wings Over Broadway, East Coast Super Subs and other restaurants will compete, and that wings will be judged in exotic, hot and best-of-show categories. The event takes place at Kino Stadium (2500 E. Ajo Way), and tickets are $20, which includes admission to the Tucson Padres game; 744-9595.
Beer Events
1702, the pub and restaurant at 1702 E. Speedway Blvd., is hosting some unique beer events this week. 1702 hosts the first Arizona event for Maui Brewing Co.—makers of Bikini Blonde Lager, CoCoNut Porter, Big Swell IPA and other brews—on Thursday, June 23. On Friday, June 24, the pub celebrates New Belgium Brewing's anniversary with an event highlighting several beers crafted by the Colorado-based company. Oracle Road holds its grand opening on Monday, June 27, and will donate a portion of proceeds from meals purchased from Friday, July 1, through Monday, July 4, to the Children's Miracle Network. ... A new Luke's Italian Beef should be open any day in the old Viva Burrito spot 2645 E. Speedway Blvd. ... Marie Callender's at 245 S. Wilmot Road closed last week when the chain restaurant's parent company filed for bankruptcy. ... The original Buddy's Grill at 4821 E. Grant Road has closed after nearly two decades; the Rita Ranch location at 7385 S. Houghton Road remains open.
