Downtown Monkey Burger—Finally!

The downtown location of Monkey Burger is finally open in the former Burger City spot at 47 N. Sixth Ave. The new location has more bar seating than the Monkey Burger at 5350 E. Broadway Blvd., and the menu is a bit more expansive. Of course, the restaurant's signature deep-fried pickles and sweet-potato fries are available at both locations. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Wednesday; and 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. Live music goes down on weekends.


New at Mercado San Agustin

Taqueria El Pueblito has opened at Mercado San Agustin at 100 S. Avenida Del Convento. It serves several dishes with roots in Southern Mexico and a huge array of burritos, enchiladas, tacos and other Mexican favorites. Hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday; 339-9336.

We also took a look inside the yet-to-open Casa Marita Restaurante Argentino, a new restaurant by the owners of Casa Vicente that is also going in at Mercado San Agustin. The grill that will hold the big racks of imported Argentinean beef is already in place, and the rest of the space is shaping up to be a rather stylish affair. It's expected to open in the next couple of months.


New: Milagros Café

There's a lot to love about the new Milagros Café at 3156 E. Fort Lowell Road. There are breakfast enchiladas, and there's house-made chorizo. There are big plates for big appetites, and small plates for everyone else. There's the fact that the restaurant is the first in town to sell locally roasted coffee from the great guys down at Café Aqui. And then there's the mission statement on the wall that says the place is devoted to working with nonprofit organizations to make Tucson a better place to live. Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday; 881-0048.


HUB Restaurant and Ice Creamery

Meat, ice cream and beer are what you'll find at HUB Restaurant and Ice Creamery at 266 E. Congress St. The menu is full of chicken, pastrami, corned beef, porchetta, salads, and big plates of ahi-tuna casserole and other dishes. There are even several meatless dishes, including vegetable hash and black-bean torte. The beer list is long; the cocktails are inventive and numerous; and about 30 flavors of ice cream will be available before long; 207-8201; www.hubdowntown.com.
