Coming Soon: El Güero Canelo East
Daniel and Blanca Contreras are opening a third El Güero Canelo in an old Los Betos building at 5802 E. 22nd St. Daniel Contreras said eastside residents have been asking him to open a location near them for years, and that he would eventually like to open locations elsewhere in the state. El Güero Canelo started as a tiny food trailer in 1993, and the Contreras family has worked their way up ever since. The restaurant gained national attention when it was featured on the television shows Man v. Food and Food Wars.
