Love at Amarsi Ristorante

Amarsi, the Italian verb, means “to be in love.” Amarsi Ristorante, the restaurant, has been serving East Coast-style Italian fare since March at 12152 N. Rancho Vistoso Blvd. in Oro Valley. Julie Vlahakis, who owns the restaurant with her husband, Karim Hamdan, and another couple, says people rave about the veal and seafood, and that her wine selection is no slouch, either. Dinner entrées run from $13 to $24, and lunch items—which include pizza and an assortment of Italian sandwiches—are about $10. Call 297-9491 for more information.

Brundog’s and La Cocina de Gabby

Tom and Marty Brunner of Brundog’s Zy-De-Que fame have teamed up with husband-and-wife duo Gabby Sosa and Francisco Martinez to open an eclectic eatery in the old Brundog’s spot at 4825 N. First Ave. Brundog’s and La Cocina de Gabby features the Brunners’ barbecue and Sosa’s Mexican City fare under the same roof—and sometimes on the same plate. “She doesn’t even know what a great cook she is, and once she does, she’s going to make a name for herself in this town,” said Tom Brunner. The eatery has a drive-through window now, too; 887-2333.

New Farmers’ Markets

A new farmers’ market is also coming to Green Valley. Organizer Ed Dubis of Earth Made Farmers’ Markets says the Farmers’ Market at the Shoppes at La Posada debuts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15, at La Posada (350 E. Morningside Road). More than 25 vendors have signed up to sell salmon, free-range beef, jams, jellies, baked goods, soups, plants and produce. Mediterranean, Asian and Mexican food will also be available.
