St. Patrick's Day!

Green beer, corned beef and mouthy leprechauns ... do Tucsonans know how to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, or what?

Get an early start when the Auld Dubliner Irish Pub and Restaurant (800 E. University Blvd., No. 104) opens at 6 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, for a traditional breakfast of boxty (Irish potato pancakes) and rashers (Irish bacon and eggs). The celebration continues with live music, giveaways, beer, more Irish food and merrymaking galore throughout the day. $5 cover; 206-0323.

O'Malley's on Fourth (247 N. Fourth Ave.) will have live music, smack-talking leprechauns pouring shots, a buffet brimming with Irish food, a dunk tank containing another smack-talking leprechaun, bagpipers and other shenanigans. O'Malley's informs Noshing that a representative from the Catholic Church will stop in to bless the bar. Doors open at 10 a.m.; 623-8600.

Irish Pub (9155 E. Tanque Verde Road, Suite 177) will have $1 mugs of green domestic beer, corned beef and corned-beef-and-Swiss sandwiches starting at 11 a.m., with live music by Jay Faircloth at 8 p.m.; 749-2299.

Firkin and Friar (6958 E. Tanque Verde Road) will have Guinness, giveaways and specials on traditional Irish food. Doors open at 11 a.m., and operations manager Bryant Greer says it'll be off the hook until closing time; 885-8277.

Jonathan's Cork (6320 E. Tanque Verde Road) is serving corned beef, potatoes, carrots and cabbage for $15.95 per person starting at 5 p.m. Guinness and Bushmills drinks will also be on special; 296-1631.

Monty's Bistro and Pizzeria

Helen and Monty Blankier have changed the name of Sabra Mediterranean Restaurant (4210 E. Speedway Blvd.) to Monty's Bistro and Pizzeria. Helen Blankier said Sabra's kosher menu wasn't bringing in enough people--hence the name change, new menu and the addition of karaoke on Thursday nights; 795-6060.

Native Foods and Basketry

The people of the Tohono O'odham nation were using local foods like tepary beans and Hopi blue corn eons before local food was cool. Native chefs will showcase the ways they use these and other traditional foods from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22, at the Celebration of Basketry and Native Foods at the Tohono O'odham Nation Cultural Center and Museum (8 miles south of Sells, near BIA Route 19 and Fresnal Canyon Road).
