New: Wild West Hot Sauce CompanyThe inspiration to open a hot-sauce store came to Dena and Alan Rupp while on a school field trip to Seaport Village in San Diego. The locally owned store, which sells mostly Arizona salsas and sauces, opened last week in Trail Dust Town, near the Pinnacle Peak Restaurant at 6541 E. Tanque Verde Road; 971-3663. The shop is open daily from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
New: My Big Fat Greek RestaurantA second Tucson location opened two weeks ago at 7131 E. Broadway Blvd., at Kolb Road. The first restaurant opened in the Phoenix area, and there are now 11 in Arizona, with plans to expand into New Mexico, Texas and Nevada. The restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m.; 722-6000.

Flavors Without BordersThe Southwest has given the world chimichangas, flat Sonoran enchiladas, tepary bean stews, prickly-pear margaritas and Sonoran enchiladas. During the remainder of the month, the Flavors Without Borders/Sabores Sin Fronteras food alliance is targeting the Tucson/Santa Cruz area with events including food-writer readings at Antigone Books on Wednesday, Nov. 19; tastings, talks, modern dance and poetry during a daylong symposium at Rex Ranch in Amado on Friday, Nov. 21; and a wild chile field trip the morning of Saturday, Nov. 22.
