Coming Back Soon: Amereno's

Fans of the former eastside Amereno's Little Italy will be pleased to know that the Italian restaurant has relocated to midtown and will reopen in July 2008 at 2933 E. Grant Road. If you call 721-1210 and leave a message, the proprietors will call you when Amereno's reopens.

Barbecue Blues

Rod's K.C. Barbecue, located at 601 N. Fourth Ave., is now only open on Thursdays and Fridays. According to Rod, his customers have complained about the lack of parking. The rest of the time, he is busy catering and can be found at the Oro Valley Farmers' Market on Saturdays, and St. Philip's Farmers' Market on Sundays, where the air is permeated with inviting barbecue. People who want cuts of meat smoked can contact him at 623-0182.

Closed

The following restaurants have closed: Bistro Philippe, Cocina Loca, Conti's Ristorante and Sanchez Burrito Co.

West Goes West

Jamie West, former chef of the Westward Look Resort's Gold Room, has left the building for the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, located on the southern cusp of Central California's wine country.

Janos

Sometimes we wonder if Janos Wilder ever sleeps. His restaurant was recently inducted into the Nation's Restaurant News Fine Dining Hall of Fame. Also, Janos recently blogged about the importance of supporting local businesses and local farmers; read it at his blog. Lastly, on July 4, J Bar presents a rollicking evening of live music under the stars with Tucson Western swing/bluegrass band the Titan Valley Warheads, along with an all-American barbecue buffet and fireworks. The dinner is priced at $35 for adults and $17.50 for kids 12 and younger. For reservations, call 615-6100. Janos/J Bar is located at 3770 E. Sunrise Drive.

Willcox Tomatoes

Eurofresh Farms greenhouse tomatoes, grown in Willcox--and found in most Tucson chain grocery stores, Costco and at the restaurants of Fox Restaurant Concepts and Metro Restaurants--are safe to eat. Read more at the Eurofresh Web site.
