New: La Taverna di Gavi
In May, Gavi Colaleo, owner of Gavi restaurants and Piazza Gavi, celebrated a grand reopening of his 6960 E. Sunrise Drive location. After being closed for only a week of remodeling, it reopened under the new name. Gavi teamed with his executive chef, Richard Knott, to create a menu rich in Italian and French cuisine. Originally, Philippe Trosch, formerly of the Ventana Room, was going to be the partner, but that didn't pan out. The bistro-like menu features steaks, lamb ragu, chicken roulade, seafood, artichoke Florentine, onion soup, quail, salads, nightly specials and wines from France and Italy. The restaurant seats 70; reservations are advised at 615-1900.

Once again, Pastiche Modern Eatery will donate 5 percent of your check (before tax and tip) in June to any of the 40 top recipients in the past seven years--so you can dine while supporting Tucson's finest charities. Support Mom and Pop
The good folks at Galo's Restaurant want you to come out and support small dining venues this summer. In June, they are offering 25 percent off bottles of wine with a minimum purchase of one entrée. In July, enjoy 30 percent off appetizers with a minimum purchase of one entrée, and in August, a two-course dinner with a glass of wine costs $26 per person, or $22 with a nonalcoholic beverage.
