Noshing Around

Date Night

Think outside the proverbial Saturday night and get a deal on Monday and Wednesday at Red Sky Café. Enjoy a three-course dinner for two including a bottle of wine for $39.95. (Now that's a deal!) Red Sky is located at 2900 N. Swan Road in the artfully painted Plaza Palomino; 326-5454.

Out of Business

Brew and Vine and its new sister wine bar, fluid, on Oracle Road closed after being open a few short months. The owner could not be reached for comment, but Noshing has a P.O.V: location, location, location. In its previous location further south on Oracle, Brew and Vine was a known entity. The newer location on Oracle just north of Ina was more cluttered, and the signage went mute in a crowded horizon. The wine bar, fluid, was selling wine for $11 a glass when a bottle in the store cost $15. Ouch.

More Wining

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Cup Café in Hotel Congress sells a bottle of wine for only $10 over cost when two entrées are purchased. Is that a deal? Yes, since the markup on wine is usually 250 percent or more. For instance, a bottle of Bonny Doon big house red or Fat Bastard chardonnay costs $17. Drink up!
