Noshing Around

Look What $20 Buys

The Tucson Originals group of independent restaurants kicked off their annual $20 summer promotion on May 24, providing a wealth of affordable dining choices during the long, hot summer. Here are some of the options: HiFalutin, located at 6780 N. Oracle Road, offers a special combination appetizer plate for two along with two margaritas for $20; 886-1745. Fuego features the sunset menu from 5-6 p.m. daily with soup or salad, entrée and dessert at $20. Located at 6958 E. Tanque Verde Road, there's a special $20 wine list, too; 886-1745.

Free Burrito for the Military

On Saturday, June 12, each of Chipotle's four locations will offer Tucson's 30,000 military personnel and their families a free burrito, taco or low-carb bol (burrito in a bowl--with lettuce instead of a tortilla). Military I.D. required.

Philanthropy With Phlavor

Independent restaurant Pastiche Modern Eatery once again donates 5 percent of sales during the month of June to your favorite nonprofit (mine is Arizona Greyhound Rescue). Take advantage of the $20 special for their signature thyme-crusted sea bass with salad plus one of 20 bottles of wine for $20 each at 3025 N. Campbell Ave., 325-3333.

Primavera Cooks Feast

Another week, another Primavera Cooks--this time at Feast, where an eclectic menu of roast game and soft-shelled crabs stuffed with brie and prosciutto will pair with alluring wines on June 16 at 6:30 p.m. $100 person, RSVP to 326-9363.
