Lunch in Bloom

For the next few months, Feast will serve lunch at the Friends House in the Tucson Botanical Gardens. Like the plants, the menu of artistic sandwiches, soups and desserts changes weekly.

Country Club Road between Ajo Way and 36th Street. Contact: Kelly Watters, 622-0525, ext. 242.

20 Years of Diamonds

Congratulations to the Tucson Hilton (formerly Sheraton) El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort for 20 consecutive years of receiving the AAA Four Diamond Award for lodging and food. The designation is based on unannounced evaluations, and o nly three percent of an estimated 28,000 AAA-rated lodgings attain the Four Diamond Award level. Ratings are from one to five.

Wild Wings and Other Things

Wings--locally owned and operated by Rich Smith--serves up no less than 18 different kinds of buffalo wings. The most popular flavors? Garlic-Parmesan, lemon-pepper and hot, any of which should go well with the smoothie-type alcoholic drinks coming in April. Wings is located at 3007 E. Speedway Blvd., open daily from 11 a.m., 881-0003.

Thumb Salad

A woman in Canton, Ohio, bit into a human thumb while eating a salad at a Red Robin Restaurant. The woman (who thought the thumb was gristle) worked hard to swallow the secret ingredient, which a restaurant worker had lost earlier in the day while chopping lettuce. I once lost a fake fingernail in a meatloaf I made for my fiancé's family; we never did make it to the altar.

Brown Rice Sushi

Local South Beach dieters are beginning to rumble about sushi made with brown rice. Where is it? On the SoBe diet, moderate amounts of brown rice are encouraged (the good carbs). It exists in health-conscious, trend-setting Los Angeles. If you're serving it, let us know.
