Fad or Forever?
According to a recently released survey, 11 percent of Americans (24 million adults) are on a low-carb diet, with another 20 percent likely to try one in the next two years. The food industry, and restaurants in particular, have been slow to jump on the trend. Picurro's Pizzeria rises ahead of the pack, introducing a reduced-carb pizza crust at 2.5 carbs per slice, at all six Tucson and Marana locations. Available in 12-inch sizes only, the crusts are about half the thickness of the original. Reduced-carb pasta is in the works, too. Check out www.picurro.com for the location nearest you.
