Noshing Around

What's New?

· Arizona Ale House

Twenty-four kinds of beer on tap, a rainbow of drink specials and 106 items on the vast menu are just a few of the reasons why you might be hanging out here starting May 8. Locally owned by the Cook family, it's supposed to be a casual, friendly place located on 95 W. River Road. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. 292-6500.

· Kokobana Mexican Grill

Just in time for the sizzling summer, Baja surf cuisine splashes into the Broadway Village Shopping Center on May 12. Owners Susana and Danny Lopez (her family owned American Meat Market and his owns Mi Nidito) will offer buckets of grilled shrimp, snow crab, lobster tails, burritos, tacos and a salsa bar. Cool off with a frozen cocktail or imported beer. Located at 3022 E. Broadway Blvd. Open Mon-Sat from 11 a.m. 327-4141.

· Smokin'

Smokin' (the sequel) on Swan Road at Speedway Boulevard opens May 19 featuring Texas-style barbecue ranging from $3-$13.

· Formerly Known as the Presidio Grill

Mitch Levy, brother to the Feast's Doug Levy, is expecting a June opening in the former Presidio Grill. The restaurant--I could not pry the name from Levy's lips--will serve a blend of regional culinary styles, 40 wines by the glass and exude a casual sophisticated ambience.

What's on the Menu?

· Sumptuous Flavors of Italy

Omni Tucson National Golf Resort and Spa's restaurant, the Catalina Grille, teams up with the Italian Trade Commission to spotlight Chianti Classico Black Rooster wines and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese from May 1 through June 30. (Interesting note: Each wheel of cheese is a signed, limited edition carrying proof of authenticity.)
