As I write this, it's Saturday, five days before this issue will officially hit the streets. We're here on the weekend thanks to early deadlines, the result of people heading out of town, the printer wanting the paper early, etc.
'Tis the season.
Some of our alternative newsweekly brethren (and sistren?) take this week off. We don't. After all, if we did, we couldn't bring you all the good stuff that's packed into these pages.
I especially draw your attention to the middle of the issue, where you can find our New Year's Guide. Truth be told, these are 16 of the most labor-intensive pages we produce all year. Karyn Zoldan, Stephen Seigel, Anna Mirocha and Jason Shults, under the direction of Irene Messina, all put in many hours to compile the information contained herein. My pledge: You won't find a more comprehensive Tucson New Year's guide anywhere.
Beyond the New Year's stuff, we also bring you predictions for the year ahead from Jim Nintzel in The Skinny, and various looks back at the year we're finishing up from Nintzel, Leo W. Banks, Tom Danehy, Dave Devine, John Schuster and our music writers.
