A founding member of Tucson's notorious Bloat Records, Lucas Moseley has been playing and writing music locally since 1990. In addition to his longtime gigs as head honcho of The Pork Torta and drummer for Al Foul and the Shakes, Moseley is now stage front, singing for the explosive Blackwood and Co. Future goals? Touring the French prison system with Al Foul and finishing the new Pork Torta album, their third in 17 years.
What was the firstconcert you ever saw?
I saw Devo in 1983 at Grady Gammage Auditorium (at Arizona State University). I wore the T-shirt to junior high the next day, at the risk of getting my ass kicked by the Mexicans and the freaks.
What CDs are inyour changer right now?
The Learning Station, Me and My Bean Bag, on my turntable. My favorite songs are "Bean Bag Boogie" and "Pass That Bean Bag!"
How many total albums do you own(CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?
I recently melded records with my girlfriend, so I guess it's official. She has a sweet collection of jazz records and '60s stuff, and I have a ton of thrift-store crap. It's a wonderful mix: 2,000 albums, 100 CDs, 37 cassettes and 200 8-tracks.
Do you download music,and if so, legally or illegally?
The only thing I download is bongs.
What was the first album you owned?
When I was 9 or 10, I spent the summer with my grandparents. In my aunt's old attic bedroom, I found a record player and The Ventures' first album; The Kingsmen, Vol. 2; and the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour. I still have those first two records; after 30 years, they're a bit scratchy.
What song would you liketo have played at your funeral?
"Time Is Tight" by Booker T. and the MG's.
Musically speaking, what do you lovethat your friends don't know about?What's your favorite guilty pleasure?
The Smiths. I like The Smiths.
What band or artistchanged your life, and how?
My friend Danny Walker (aka Serge). He made the absurd seem legitimate, and most of my best ideas are stolen from him.
