Nine Questions

Joey Belladonna is the former lead singer of the legendary thrash-metal group Anthrax. He'll stop in Tucson for a 6 p.m. show at Club Congress on Monday, April 14. Tickets for the 18-plus show are $20 in advance, or $25 the day of the show; call 622-8848 for details.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

Eric Clapton and Aerosmith. ... I don't even remember what album Clapton was supporting.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

There's a lot of different stuff; it really depends on what I'm in the mood to listen to. It keeps me from worrying about what style I need to follow.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

I don't have a lot of vinyl, maybe 300 albums. It's been a while since I counted my albums. I put a lot of music onto CDs and cassettes. I've got a lot of cassettes and have probably 1,000 CDs.

Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?

Yeah, I don't really do any of that. I like to buy music; I'm not into downloading unless it's really appropriate for that matter.

What was the first album you owned?

I would say (something by) the Beatles.

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

(Long pause.) I couldn't tell you. That's tough.

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about?

What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

There are a number of things that people wouldn't think I listen to, or they wouldn't even know half of the people. I listen to Seal; I think he's cool. I listen to Steely Dan, and some jazz-fusion stuff. Sade has some neat songs. I'm into wacky stuff.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

The Beatles; they got me going to be in a band. Kansas and Yes were big influences on me as well.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

That's a hard one. I can name one album, but then name another. Anything from Zeppelin, especially Led Zeppelin II. And Burn, by Deep Purple. There are too many cool albums.
