The name says it all in this case. When Need for Speed is behind the wheel, it’s something really cool. Other times … it needs some speed. A vehicle (ha!) for Breaking Bad co-star Aaron Paul, Need for Speed is an overly simple car-loving movie, one that does not need to approach its 130 minutes, and one that dares you to question its many physical improbabilities, only to have you throw your hands up in disgust and enjoy the ride (another pun!). The street racing is delirious and the stunts are incredible, and ultimately, that’s what you should worry about. Why director Scott Waugh tried at all to make this serious and dramatic is questionable when he had a perfectly good adrenaline rush on his hands already.
