Tohono Chul Park is opening its doors to the community for National Public Gardens Day, Friday, May 8. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7366 N. Paseo del Norte, visitors can soak up the sunshine that keeps its many desert plants thriving as they take in the natural sights. The park boasts viewing trails (all under a mile), birding activities, and multiple gardens, including a hummingbird garden, a garden designated for children, an ethnobotanical garden, and more. There are also art exhibits and a bistro on the grounds. Take a plant home from the retail greenhouse. Be a good citizen and appreciate nature—for free. In honor of the holiday, there is no admission cost. For more info, go to tohonochulpark.org or call 742-6455.
