Long time Tucsonan. Wondering where/when we lost our sense of direction as a city and community. Retired only because most businesses in the area seem to not like the idea of hiring people over 55.. Or more so, after 60.

Re: “The Skinny

Selling the guns legally held by the City would add money back into the General Fund, the Police Department, or other cash-starved portions of the City. Why would the Mayor and Council want to help the City by finding sources of cash?

Re: “Editor's Note

I've looked a couple times at the headline on this editorial. One question remains: What is a cadidate?

Re: “The Skinny

Fact check for Mr Nintzel:

Franzi's show was on KVOI (for YEARS) every Saturday, not Sunday, afternoon.

Re: “Media Watch

I heard a strange noise the other day as I drove past Roger & Oracle roads. Best I can describe, it sounded like a concert of sales people NASH-ing their teeth.

Re: “Editor's Note

Adding more "gun controls" is not a solution to the problem of mental health issues. Proper diagnosis and treatment of those with such concerns would help lessen the tide of both murders and suicides.

Sadly, many persons receive little, or in many cases NO treatment for their problems. Many who continue having difficulty have chosen to stop taking helpful medications prescribed to them

There are too many facets to the question of "how to stop the violence" to expect instant success by imposing more restrictions on those who obey laws already in place.

Removing guns from the puzzle would just move those considering an act of violence simply to find another method to achieve their goal.

Re: “Media Watch

Sorry to hear of another cutback in local media. Media Watch was the primary reason I continue to look forward to my Thursday email (yes, I gave up trying to find an unshredded paper Weekly a couple years ago). Now, I guess the online version might do well to offer alternative week issues of Media Watch and the Play with Yourself column, but only time will tell.

PS. I never watched "Community" when it was on TV, either.
