Re: “Hidden Agenda?

Our child is currently enrolled at Sonoran Science Academy in the high school, and this is without question the best, most amazing school our child has ever attended. I am not the only parent who thinks this. We would not be AT ALL happy with a school that had the slightest hint of ANY religious agenda, and I assure you there is no funny business going on here. I find it disturbing that the passionate, unparalleled dedication of all the SSA teachers is being trashed by this disgruntled parent. I am deeply offended by the fear-mongering paranoia exhibited by the unnamed parent, and also by the whispering innuendos of the article. Most of the teachers there are not Turkish, and all of the differing cultures who are students, staff and teachers there are held together by an atmosphere of mutual respect, warmth, friendliness, politeness, pride and good manners. Our child has several teachers who are Turkish. They are very proud of their culture, and are exceptional human beings with topnotch education. I don't know of too many other schools where this high of a level of teaching is going on. Without exaggerating, I can say that all of the teachers and staff that I have been in contact with are great role models for my child. There has been no mention of Gulen or any other cleric or political leader by anyone I have been in contact with, nothing smacks of secretiveness, none of the teachers take off on prayer breaks. This is a small school that one can choose to attend or not. They do not brag about themselves and are not into exclusivity. When our child went to the Montessori School in elementary school it was a MUCH more opinionated and impenetrable operation, and no one seems to criticize the followers of Maria Montessori or her very particular ideas about education in order to color them ominous. Again, we chose to send our child there. Why don't people focus on making their own lives better instead of deviously trying to tear down that which is good and positive for others but not for them? Please move on with more grace and dignity, disgruntled parent! You make me want to cry.
