One of the things that make Club Crawl® so special, in our admittedly biased opinion, is the wide variety of music and entertainment. Many of the early music slots are filled with acoustic folk, Americana, blues and Latin music. When you couple that music with the wide variety of eating options available in the downtown area, you've got a real sensory delight.
With the Fourth Avenue underpass finally completed, it is now easy to come down early for dinner and then stroll along the Club Crawl® stages.
There are plenty of cornerstone restaurants—such as El Charro Café, Café Poca Cosa, Caruso's, and Barrio—that make downtown a food destination. However, for those of you who just can't wait for the music to start, here's a list of restaurants that are participating in Club Crawl®, offering amazing dinner and music combinations.
Café Passé
415 N. Fourth Ave.
Enjoy luscious coffee drinks, sandwiches and salads at this Fourth Avenue café (and be sure to check out this week's Chow review to read all about it). Performing Latin lounge and atmospheric music, Duo Sonido kicks things off at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by the multi-talented Jimmy Carr at 7:30 p.m.
Casa Vicente
375 S. Stone Ave.
This gem on South Stone provides an authentic and lively Spanish atmosphere. Enjoy tapas, paella and sangria while watching flamenco dancer Macarena Giraldez, from Sevilla, Spain, who will be accompanied by Flamenco guitarist Misael Barraza, from Hermosillo, Mexico, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Chocolate Iguana
500 N. Fourth Ave.
This original Tucson coffeehouse serves a variety of sandwiches, salads, fresh pastries and—of course—coffee. Acoustic duo In Accent features the wonderful harmonies of two female vocalists who also double on guitar and harmonica. They will be performing on the outdoor plaza from 7 to 9 p.m. It's the perfect spot to be in the middle of all the action on the corner of Sixth Street and Fourth Avenue.
Cup Café
311 E. Congress St.
Downtown's fine-dining cornerstone is smack-dab in the middle of the biggest entertainment complex on Congress Street—and that, of course, is Hotel Congress. Sit on the patio and catch the outdoor stage band lineup from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Cushing Street Bar and Restaurant
198 W. Cushing St.
This Tucson landmark is housed in a historic 1860s adobe building. Enjoy a great dinner menu and cocktails in their Territorial dining room, or listen to jazz with Jeff Lewis and Friends on the garden patio from 7 to 10 p.m. This venue is off the beaten path but has plenty of parking and is well worth the extra effort.
Delectables
533 N. Fourth Ave.
Delectables, one of the original alternative dining options on Fourth Avenue, is well-known for innovative dishes. The restaurant's side patio, right on the avenue, allows diners to take in the avenue's ambience while enjoying Jeremy Serwer and his blend of folk and Americana from 7 to 9 p.m.
Grill
100 E. Congress St.
Fine diner grub and performances by some of the best area indie bands meet at this vortex known as the Red Room at Grill. As usual, they will have plenty of tater tots, burgers and vegetarian options—and the music starts at 10 p.m.
Iguana Café
210 E. Congress St.
This little Congress Street spot will feature a special Mexican menu for Club Crawl®. Iguana Café is inside of the Crawl enclosure, and they'll be serving food late. Ritmo Alto will be performing a mix of Hispanic music, including a heavy dose of salsa and cumbias, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Magpies Gourmet Pizza
605 N. Fourth Ave.
Besides specialty pies, Magpies also serves pastas, salads and tasty subs. Performing on the outdoor patio will be Phil Borzillo, who offers acoustic blues, folk and Americana sounds, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Martin's
557 N. Fourth Ave.
Rafael Moreno is usually busy performing with his dynamic salsa band Descarga. However on Club Crawl® night, he will play to an intimate crowd as part of a duo, from 7 to 9 p.m. The owner of Martin's is originally from Nogales and serves up some of the tastiest Mexican fare on the Avenue.
Maynards Market and Kitchen
400 N. Toole Ave
"Meet me at Maynards" is becoming a common phrase for folks gathering downtown. This restaurant in the Historic Train Depot also sports one of the town's largest outdoor patios. Catch the ambiance of a train passing by while enjoying the acoustic and bluegrass sounds of The Determined Luddites from 9 to 11 p.m.
O'Malley's
247 N. Fourth Ave.
Not only is O'Malley's one of the best entertainment options on Fourth Avenue; it is also home to some of best burgers and bar food downtown. O'Malley's doubles as one of the main music venues on Fourth Avenue, so be sure to catch the full Club Crawl® schedule from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
