But on a recent Monday, with an adoptable doggie in tow, Rose was informed that she could not participate in the station's Pet of the Week segment.
KVOA Channel 4 has two such features: Kitty Korner, which airs during the Monday noon newscast--Rose was in the KVOA studios for the piece this week--and the Tailwagger segment on Fridays. At KOLD Channel 13, the feature is called Tuesday's Tail.
The format of the Pet of the Week segment is simple: A news personality sits with the Humane Society representative and talks dog-and-cat shop for two or three minutes.
Usually, KGUN weather personality Len Johnson gets the assignment, and since KGUN banned Rose from appearing in the segment, he has handled the adoption duties solo.
Rose and KGUN's parent company, Journal Broadcast Group, declined comment.
DAVIS DEPARTS KGUN; LYON LEAVES KVOAWeekend anchor/general-assignment reporter Selena Davis has parted ways with KGUN. Davis joined the ABC affiliate from a station in Medford, Ore., less than eight months ago.
Meanwhile, Amber Lyon has severed her relationship with NBC affiliate KVOA, and the station has reassigned recent addition Anthony Cabrera to the Tucson Today slot formerly occupied by Lyon. KVOA has also hired Tyler Wing in a general-assignment news-reporter capacity. Wing was a weekend anchor/reporter in Texas.
"Tyler brings with him years of experience," said KVOA news director Kathleen Choal. "He started his career as a photographer and made the switch to reporter four years ago. It gives him a great perspective on telling visual stories for our viewers."
