Re: “Props Lessons

Maintenance to county facilities should be paid for with county funds, not taxpayer money. Decades of failed county leadership, mismanaged taxpayer money and irresponsible spending are the reasons the county does not have the funds for these repairs.

Re: “Street Views

The Legislature has not swept up all the HURF funds, as Mr. Huckelberry and the Board and trusting taxpayers shriek. Please research for yourself before you spread the misinformation you are told.

The Legislature, on average (since 2003), sweeps about 7 percent of an average $52 million in transportation funding. Next year, they are sweeping zero. Last year, we were given $63.2 from the transportation fund: $5 million was used for pavement repair (of which more that half was moved for soccer field land purchases and placed into the General fund), $14 million was used for road maintenance, $19 million was used to pay our 1997 bond debt and the remaining $25 million was used for engineering and "overhead" ( $4.8 million for director's office overhead). After paying for all the bloated and bureaucratic overhead and salaries, this leaves about $16 million/year for our road maintenance and repair out of $63.2 million.

Before we start taxing people for this massive mismanagement of money, let us use more of the $63.2 million to actually repair the roads instead of using it for ....who really knows what???

See the link below for the numbers referenced above.
