Kung fu movies, even when they’re really bad, are still pretty fun. This one however, just plain stinks. Why does it stink so bad? I have two words for you: Keanu Reeves. Yes, not only is this Mr. Reeves’ directorial debut, but he’s also the villain in this snooze-fest. I know this is saying a lot, but trust me, this is Reeves at his absolute worst. Reeves plays Donaka Mark, a James Bond-type villain who runs underground fight clubs in Hong Kong for the ultra-rich. When he discovers Tiger Chen (played by Tiger Chen), a martial artist who practices the usually nonlethal tai chi style, he woos him with money and material goods to become his pet fighter. Tiger Chen rediscovers his peaceful roots just in time to fight the ultra-wooden Reeves. If you make it this far without walking out, I salute you.
