Let’s Talk Art

The Tucson Pima Arts Council brings together art leaders, directors and administrators on Thursday, Jan. 15 with EmcArts top learn about a training opportunity for Art Leaders and Cultural Innovators (ALACI). Given the changing landscape of arts and culture in this country—particularly around how people engage in the arts and the growing desire for participatory experiences—arts organizations need new strategies in their programs, venues, structure, engagement practices, use of the Internet, and partnerships. The ACLAI program is an 18-month program of seminars, coaching, virtual learning and practicums, which aims to move arts leaders away from traditional heroic leadership—the singular individual as the driving force and problem-solver, behind whom followers unite—and develop adaptive leadership, a set of practices that distributes responsibility for tackling today's challenges. Five fellows from Arizona will be selected through a competitive application process to join the program. Come to this meeting, from 9 to 11 a.m. at 100 N. Stone Ave., Suite 303, to learn about this program. For more info and to RSVP, email info@tucsonpimaartscouncil.org.
